Art & Impact

How might a city inspire, connect, and support artists better?

Why New York City?

You can’t go anywhere in New York City without encountering artists. From the galleries of Chelsea to the shows on (and off) Broadway, from musicians in Brooklyn to incredible museums of Manhattan, the city is world renown for its incredible arts. The city supports and inspires artists of all kinds, and the results are everywhere.

In New York city we will dive into the arts scene as we explore the neighborhoods and highlights of the city. From a generalized view mixing music, performance, and visual arts to a deep dive into any one discipline, we will meet with artists, discover hidden venues, and  even make our own pieces too. What will the city inspire for us? How can other cities help shape art into the future?

INSIGHTS + PROJECTS

On every Atlas Workshops program, the group works on an inquiry with real-world implications. Through intentional exploration, engagement with locals and experts, and team activities, students generate new insights and ideas about the topics, places, and global issues they’re investigating.

For some groups, the program incorporates a more extensive project—an opportunity to apply our learning and stretch our creative thinking by making something tangible or public.

We work to share the ideas and inspiration we find in the world, with the world, through collaborative initiatives and student expression. We can also work with you to develop a custom project or publish students’ insights via exhibition, photography, digital or print media, or other format.
